While waiting for an overdue monthly check on a second deed of trust that was to include several thousand dollars of principle, I became concerned as to the delay. I phoned the title company that disburses the funds and was advised that a check for only the original amount had been sent the previous day. When asked about the additional funds that were directed to me, I was informed that they had been disbursed to the first lien holder and they would “look into it.” I was requiring those funds to close on a new residence within 48-hours. Without that money, we would possibly lose the house and our earnest money and be left homeless, as our lease was expiring. The following morning, I placed a call to our provider attorney. Within two hours they returned my call and after our consultation and after we had a 3-way conference call with the title company, the title company decided it would be in their best interest to place a stop payment on the erroneously sent funds and have a check ready for me within 24 hours. I picked up the check from the title company less than 24 hours after my call to our provider firm.

On January 24, 2002 our son was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He sustained serious injuries which led to his death 3 ½ weeks later. After the initial shock of the accident we contacted our Pre-Paid Legal provider firm in North Carolina.

The attorneys provided us with exemplary service. They kept us informed of progress throughout the entire case. We couldn’t have asked for better service. Their professionalism is above reproach.

On the day our son passed away, I contacted one of the attorneys handling our case and informed him of our son’s passing. I was later contacted by the other two attorneys working on our case. The compassion expressed by these three gentlemen was of the type usually received from only close friends and family members. They have gone above and beyond their duties.

I was paying for a health insurance policy for my husband and myself. At the time I moved out and filed for divorce I was only wanting to pay for my coverage only to find out I was not able to change it unless I obtained a new policy. It was going to be costlier than continuing to pay for his coverage and the insurance company wasn’t going to reduce my deductible from the “couple” deductible to a “single” deductible. I was quite incensed with their total control over something which left me feeling quite trapped and helpless. Since I had experienced several different and sizable medical problems in the preceding couple of years, I also could not seek out other coverage at that time.

I phoned my provider firm through Pre-Paid Legal and after they reviewed the terms of my policy, they phoned the insurance company and basically were told what I was told. The provider firm then suggested that upon the granting of the divorce to call the insurance company back and they felt at that time the company could not refuse to cover just me and drop the spouse. After the passage (and expense) of about six months, I did as suggested, but once again the insurance company would not back down from their initial position. In total frustration I informed the provider firm of this. They collected the details from me and wrote a letter to my insurance company.

Within a couple of weeks the insurance company had the policy changed and adjusted my premium and my deductible!

A couple of months later I was talking with my insurance agent and he stated that he didn’t know what I did to change the insurance company’s position, but in the preceding month he had received notice from them that they had changed their company policy on the very situation that I was trapped in with them!

I have great peace of mind knowing I have a legal partner to protect my interests.
