Pre-Paid Legal Services offers a unique product---a true Life Events Legal Plan. It is a plan not just for lawsuits or for those in the criminal justice system, but for everyday people with normal situations. As a lawyer, I understand the advantage that legal counsel can have on common problems. Pre-Paid's Life Events Legal Plan affords members the same advantage by providing access to legal counsel for these routine life events---such as buying a home, executing a will, assistance with a billing or credit card dispute or identity theft. Pre-Paid Legal's unique network of provider law firms across the country provides the member not only with access to legal representation, but a legal counselor and advisor in times of great need or merely dealing with daily problems. As a lawyer, I know the market for legal services; and I believe the Pre-Paid Life Events Legal Plan is the best value in that market place. Without question it opens the door to the courthouse, but it also provides access to the law firms, and the attorney's office, offering a peace of mind in a time of crisis or everyday life. Mr. Ligon served as a Strategic Advisor for Love's Travel Stops for three years. He served as Senior Vice President & General Counsel for Devon Energy Corporation for 12 years. Prior to that he was a partner at Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw, a law firm in New York City, and was a Senior Vice President and Managing Director at Bankers Trust. He held various positions with the U.S. Departments of the Interior and Treasury and the Department of Energy. Mr. Ligon was a captain in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star.
I am impressed with the quality of lawyers associated with Pre-Paid Legal. Across the country, hard working men and women have access to the justice system and quality legal representation that they otherwise could not afford. As the cost of quality legal services continues to rise, Pre-Paid Legal keeps the doors of the courthouse open to everyone instead of just the wealthy. Putting good people together with good lawyers to resolve their legal needs has been a great service and business model for everyone associated with Pre-Paid Legal. Mr. Woods served as the Attorney General of Arizona from 1991 to 1999. He was President of the Conference of Western Attorneys General, chaired the Civil Rights and Supreme Court committees for the National Association of Attorneys General, and he was selected by his peers as the nation’s top attorney general in 1995.
As a former Attorney General I heard first hand the horror stories of ordinary citizens who found themselves in confusing and often expensive legal situations without an attorney to provide them the legal advice they needed to navigate our legal system. Pre-Paid Legal Services provides its members with the peace of mind of knowing that whether their child has gotten a speeding ticket or they have had their identity stolen, they have at their disposal attorneys to give them sound legal advice. I am proud to work with Pre-Paid Legal Services because without its products like the Identity Theft Shield or one of its Legal Plans, many would be without the legal protection they need in today’s world. Harland Stonecipher and his team have contributed mightily to the Justice System. Mike Moore served as Attorney General of Mississippi from 1988 to 2004. He now practices law with his own firm, Mike Moore Law Firm, LLC, in Flowood, Mississippi. Mr. Moore received national attention in 1994 when he filed the first lawsuit against 13 tobacco companies. The suit resulted in a $4.1 billion settlement for the state of Mississippi.
All people deserve access to justice. As a former Attorney General I spent a good deal of my life seeking justice for the people of my state. I worked hard on their behalf, but the cases I worked were generally large in scale. What happens to the individual when access to legal counsel is nearly out of reach? What happens to the person who doesn’t know where to turn? I’m proud to have sponsored a National Association of Attorneys General resolution during my time as Oklahoma Attorney General that issued a proclamation of support of the concept of pre-paid legal services plans. At that time, we joined the American Bar Association in supporting the concept. My support then was limited to the concept, and that support remains strong. Now, however, I am proud to serve on the Advisory Council for the company I believe delivers the best option in this industry. In my opinion, Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. represents the heart of an industry that is revolutionizing the way legal services are delivered, and I’m excited to be a part of it. Mr. Edmondson served as the Attorney General of Oklahoma from 1994 until 2010. He now practices law as a shareholder at the firm of Gable & Gotwals. Mr. Edmondson received national attention in 1996 when he filed suit against the tobacco industry resulting in a $2 billion settlement between the industry and Oklahoma, part of the largest settlement in the history of the world. Prior to his election as Attorney General, Edmondson served three consecutive terms as Muskogee County District Attorney from 1982 to 1994, and also served one term in the Oklahoma Legislature before entering the University of Tulsa, School of Law in 1976. Mr. Edmondson is a Navy veteran with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
I have watched Pre-Paid Legal's achievements for a number of years; first from the outside as a longtime public servant in the field of law, and then when I was asked to become involved with the company on a professional level. It was an easy decision considering we share the common goal of a creating equal access within a legal system often viewed as complicated and intimidating. Pre-Paid Legal's service plans have helped thousands of people realize that they do not have to face the harsh reality of legal issues alone. I am proud of my work as Attorney General and within the public and private sector. I am just as excited to continue to witness the growing success of this company and its enduring mission to bring justice to all. It just makes sense. Mr. Turpen served as Attorney General from 1983 to 1987. He graduated from the University of Tulsa earning a Bachelor of Science degree in History and a Juris Doctor degree. Since 1987, he has been a partner in the law firm of Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbison & Lewis in Oklahoma City. In 2010, Mr. Turpen was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. He has been honored with numerous awards, appointments and honors. He argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1985. He has been honored with numerous awards, honors and appointments. He now serves on a variety of boards including The Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum, Oklahoma State Fair Board, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, and Allied Arts.
